It’s Okay To Make Mistakes

Mistakes are not a bad thing. In fact, they are one of the best ways to learn.Ā

Not all life lessons can be learned in a book. Some of the best lessons take place via trial and error.

Don’t be afraid to look back and reflect upon past mistakes from time to time.

In fact, you would not be the person you are today without all of your experiences both positive and negative.Ā

Accept The Past

Nothing we do can change the past, and no one knows for sure what tomorrow has in store. All we can do is embrace and appreciate the here and the now.

There Are No Instructions

Now, there is no ultimate secret instruction book for life. If there were, we’d all be following it.

Yes, we can go into situations with good intentions and a solid plan, but that doesn’t guarantee that everything will turn out exactly as anticipated.Ā

We may not be able to control events that happen in our lives, but we can control our attitude.

A bump or two in the road doesn’t need to stop you from moving ahead.

Turning Lemons Into Lemonade

It’s not about forgetting that the past ever happened – it’s about turning lemons into lemonade.Ā

Be grateful for all the twists and turns that have brought you here.Ā

There are many paths you could have taken – but this is the one you’re in now.Ā

Just because something feels a little difficult right now doesn’t mean you’ll feel this way forever. Every day is a new day.Ā

Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

A change in mindset can transform a negative feeling into a positive one. Every cloud has a silver lining.Ā

Question Your Thoughts

You have the power to control your thoughts. Every single negative thought can be changed into a positive one.

It does take practice and consistency, but it can be done.Ā

The next time you notice a negative thought sneaking up on you, stop what you’re doing and take some time to question it.

Why do you think that thought entered your mind in the first place? Did something happen in the past that made you cautious? Or are you experiencing a bad gut feeling?

Just because you think something doesn’t make it true – even if it feels that way right now.

Challenging your thoughts can help you look at events from several different points of view.Ā

Will This Matter One Month From Now?

Remember, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Just because you can’t see it right now doesn’t mean it isn’t there.Ā

When something is bothering you, an excellent question to ask yourself is…

“Will this matter a month from now?”

Bringing a little bit of the future into the present can help remind you that even though you may be feeling bad right now, the feeling will pass.Ā

Practice Positive Thinking

None of us are perfect, and significant lifestyle changes won’t happen overnight. But if you put the work in, anything is possible.

Every small step is one step in the right direction.

Looking at one situation/event a day through a different lens is an amazing place to start.

Improving And Rebuilding Your Relationships

With the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding time for others isn’t always easy.Ā

Cherishing that connection with the people in our lives is so important.Ā

If you feel like you’ve been putting your relationships on the back burner lately, now is the time to check back in!

Not sure where to begin? Keep on reading to learn more.Ā

Schedule Check-In TimeĀ

We get it. At the end of a long work or school day, sometimes all you want to do is eat dinner and go to sleep. We all have those evenings once in a while, and that’s completely okay.Ā

But here’s the deal – when you do something so often, it can easily become a habit.Ā

If you feel like you don’t have the time to reach out to friends and family, go ahead and set regular reminders for yourself.Ā

When that reminder goes off, all you need to do is call or text one friend to check in and say hi.

Create a RoutineĀ

Solo spontaneous outings and adventures can be a lot of fun – but so can routine.

Having a set weekly or even bi-weekly get-together scheduled in your calendar will eliminate the need to text back and forth to figure out logistics.

It may take some planning at first, but it will be worth it.Ā

Work Towards Common Goals

Goals are very personal and should be done for you and only you.

You should never feel pressured to do something you don’t want to do because you feel like it’ll make your friend happy.

However, if you and a friend share the same goal, you can definitely work towards it together.Ā

That way, you can experience the journey together and even bounce ideas off one another.

Let’s say you and a friend both want to become fluent in French. Quizzing one another or watching French movies together can help make the overall process a little more fun and even deepen your relationship.Ā

Feeling Drained? Here’s How to Recover

Have you ever had one of those days where you came home feeling completely drained and all you wanted to go to bed?

We all have those days where we feel overtired – but too much of anything isn’t healthy. If you constantly feel drained or experience a lack of energy, you may be experiencing burnout.

If you’re ready to say goodbye to those feelings, keep on reading…

Let Your Body Rest

The next time you catch your motivation and energy levels declining, don’t ignore it! The longer you ignore those feelings the more intense they will become.Ā

Instead, check in with your body.Ā

Ask yourself what you think your body needs at that moment and respect that.Ā

Don’t be afraid to put yourself first – even if that means skipping an event or going to bed a few hours early.Ā

Pinpoint the Problems

It’s so important to be honest with yourself (even if it’s hard).Ā

If you feel like a certain activity is too much or not working for you, it’s completely okay to walk away or ask for help.Ā

Here’s an example. Let’s say you volunteered to take on an extra project at your job because you thought you could handle it.

But after a few days, you realized you underestimated the scope of work.

All of that extra work and pressure can lead to burnout and unnecessary stress.

In those situations, the best thing you can do is be honest with yourself and your team. The sooner you let them know how you feel, the sooner you can come up with a solution together.Ā

ā€œRemember to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.ā€ – Unknown

Embracing Change Even When It’s Scary

Change can seem scary because of all the unknowns.Ā

The thing, going out of our way to avoid change will only make it that much harder to grow.Ā

Mindset Is Key

When something is new, it can be so easy to let our imaginations run wild and immediately jump to waste case scenario thinking.Ā

Once a seed of doubt is planted, it’s easy to let it bloom in a flurry of anxious thoughts and worries.

You have the power to challenge your worries and change the narrative. Instead of thinking about all the things that may go wrong, think of all the things that may go right.Ā

Changing your mindset can help put things into perspective.Ā

Take Control Of The RisksĀ

Yes, risk-taking can be a little uncomfortable. But it’s part of life.Ā

With every risk comes reward in any capacity. You either have an excellent experience, or you learned what doesn’t work. It’s a win-win.Ā

Every new turn is full of opportunity.Ā

Let Yourself Fall And Get Back Up

Every day may not be smooth sailing, and you may experience a bump or two in the road on your journey.Ā

It’s okay to fall. You just have to remind yourself to get back up. Every fall has something to teach you. Every setback can also make you stronger and more confident.Ā

You know what they say. Confidence is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets.Ā

ā€œThe art of life is a constant readjustment to our surroundings.ā€ – Kakuzo Okakaura

Procrastination Can Be Prevented – Here’s How…

Even the most well-thought-out projects don’t always turn out as planned, which can bring on anxiety and procrastination.Ā

It’s interesting. At times just thinking about a task can be more anxiety-provoking than the task itself.

Even though it’s far easier said than done, sometimes the best thing you can do when faced with a difficult task is just jump right in.Ā

Facing a block in the road doesn’t mean you’ve hit a dead end. All it means is you need to look for a new route.

There Is No Such Thing As a Bad Idea

The next time you’re faced with a challenge, don’t give up. Instead, set some ground rules for yourself.Ā

Give yourself a time limit to brainstorm as many potential game plans as possible. You can even set a timer if that helps.Ā

During that time, you can put all your energy into brainstorming instead of worrying.

Once the time is up, you should have a pretty long list of ideas in front of you.Ā

Now, not every idea on your list may be appropriate for the given situation.

But just because an idea wouldn’t work today doesn’t mean it may not work in the future.Ā

So often, the initial fear of beginning a project can prolong procrastination. Having a long list of potential game plans can help make starting a little less scary.

Take Short Frequent Breaks

No matter what you’re working on, it’s very important to take breaks. Frequent short breaks can help prevent burnout and keep you motivated.

However, it’s key to ensure that your breaks aren’t too long. Sometimes after a long break, it can be difficult to get back into your creative flow.

Even if you don’t have many ideas at the time, just do what you can.Ā

ā€œBeing challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.ā€ – Roger Crawford

You Can Change Your Mindset

Feelings such as anger, sadness and stress are unavoidable in life – but you don’t have to let negative emotions take over. You can change the narrative and your mindset.Ā

Here’s how…

Get Outside

Connecting with and spending time in nature is such an incredible way to combat worry and anxiety.

There’s nothing like going on a nice walk and breathing in the nice fresh air when you’re not feeling your best.

Now you may be thinking to yourself “That sounds great! I just don’t have the time.”

If you work long hours or are a student, walking away from the computer can be a bit tough, but there are several happy mediums.Ā

You can take short walks around the block during breaks or bring your computer or reading material outside! Give it a try for a week and see if you notice a difference.Ā

Healthy Distractions

The brain is not designed for multitasking. It is very difficult to do two things at once well.

If you’re having one of those stressful days, listening to some upbeat tunes or a funny show can help dial down your stress levels quite a bit.

It may not solve everything right away. But it can certainly help speed up the process.Ā

Acknowledge the Power of Words

Writing down what’s on your mind is a fast and effective way to get thoughts off your chest.Ā

If the words aren’t coming to you – read instead. Sometimes, a good book can help you better understand what you’re feeling. Or be a great escape!

Phone a Loved One

When in doubt, phoning a friend or family member never hurts.

You can never have too many listening ears on your side. When you’re tired or stressed, it is almost always harder to think through situations rationally. They may be able to help you look at things in a new light.
